BjBEACON by DC7BJRainer Steinfuehr, DC7BJ, has written a DOS program called BJBEACON which shows which beacons are transmitting on each band. I downloaded and tested version 1.12 in a DOS window under Windows 95. If you don't have a way of automatically keeping your clock accurate you will also appreciate BJBEACON's mechanism for making slight adjustments to the clock by typing "+" to increase the clock by one second and "-" to decrease it by one second. The information about the beacons is stored in a text file which is easy to modify with a text editor. BJBEACON can be found at http://www.snafu.de/~wumpus/index.html. To obtain the program, click on "ham radio" and then on "public domain software" and then on "BJBEACON". Rainer's e-mail address is wumpus@snafu.de. (Review by N6EK) |
