An eleven member Board of Directors oversees all of the Foundation's business. These Directors and the volunteer advisors who assist them have held responsible positions in the business or academic worlds. They all are active DXers. The Foundation does not have a paid staff, and no Foundation officer, director or advisor receives a salary or compensation in any form.
In keeping with the original intent of the founders, NCDXF has supported over 500 DXpeditions, large and small. For the expensive "mega" DXpeditions, NCDXF is usually the "anchor" sponsor and its grant often makes the difference in whether the DXpedition goes forward. Since its founding in 1972, NCDXF has donated in excess of $1 million to worthy DXpeditions. NCDXF also supports the world-wide NCDXF/IARU Beacon Project and provides for scholarships for worthy recipients in cooperation with the ARRL Foundation.
The Northern California DX Foundation relies heavily upon the generosity of its contributors to fund various projects. The NCDXF is an organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and all contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law for U.S. taxpayers.
